FMS families and students, here's a first look at something we're really excited about: the Construction Skilled-Trades Lab coming to our technical center.

This new 4,000-square-foot facility will be built on the site of the former PreK West building and is set to open by Fall 2027. The equipment for the Lab has already been purchased and is on site at FMS, ready for installation once construction is complete.

This morning, students and staff at Mesa Verde Elementary joined communities across the country in celebrating National Walk & Roll to School Day along College Boulevard. The annual event encourages students to build healthy habits that support physical health, mental alertness, and traffic safety, especially in busy areas near our schools. Go, Wildcats!

Last week, our Language & Culture Department hosted a family event and presentation on Kinaaldá, the traditional four-day coming-of-age ceremony for young girls in the Diné culture. The evening was led by Dr. Avery Denny, who shared his knowledge of the ceremony, including the preparations that come before it and the teachings that guide it.

APTT

APTT #1 September 25, 2025; APTT #2 January 22, 2026; APTT #3 April 9, 2026

Join us and get the facts, get connected… Get Involved!

Instead of traditional Parent/Teacher Conferences, we will have dates/times where parents will accompany their child’s teacher to develop home and school partnerships. These meetings will be partnered with a school event and will focus on student grade-level learning goals, give families information and skills to support student learning, and build community and create a school culture that honors families as partners.

APTT Meetings

In the APTT model, teachers will facilitate three 75-minute team meetings each year each consisting of the teacher meeting with the families of all of the teachers’ students. The team meetings give families opportunities to learn and contribute in a collaborative environment. Important grade-level information and effective home practices are learned and exchanged with and among all families.

Individual Session

In Addition to the APTT nights once a year teacher will hold a 30-minute individual session with the student and the student’s family to provide individualized, personal support. Individual sessions offer opportunities for families and teachers to deepen their relationship as partners, discuss each student’s progress at home and at school, and collaboratively create a course of action to support student growth and improvement.
